Storyline

Vanvaas is a touching family drama set in the spiritual and soulful city of Varanasi. At the heart of the story is Deepak Tyagi, an elderly man suffering from the early stages of dementia. After the death of his beloved wife, Deepak wishes to donate his house to a charitable trust in her memory. However, this noble intent is not welcomed by his own sons, who are more interested in the property than honoring their mother’s legacy. What follows is heartbreaking — Deepak’s sons exploit his fragile mental state and deceive him. They take him to Varanasi under the pretense of a spiritual visit and then abandon him there. Upon returning home, they go to the extent of declaring him dead, just to claim his assets without guilt or legal hurdles. In the midst of this emotional turmoil, Deepak crosses paths with Veeru, a small-time crook with big dreams, and his quirky sidekick Pappu. Initially, Veeru sees Deepak as an opportunity — especially when his girlfriend's aunt agrees to their marriage only if he takes responsibility for the old man. But what begins as a selfish act slowly turns into something beautiful. As the unlikely trio spend time together, Deepak's innocence and honesty start breaking down Veeru’s hardened exterior. Their bond deepens, and a sense of genuine care and love grows. Through shared laughter, struggles, and quiet moments of connection, they form a makeshift family that feels more real than anything Deepak had with his biological sons.
