Storyline

The story follows Arjun, a laid-back, free-spirited app developer who believes in living in the moment, and Maya, a focused, no-nonsense marketing professional with a clear vision for her future. Their first meeting is far from romantic—Maya accidentally bumps into Arjun's bike while on a phone call, leading to a heated argument in the middle of a busy street. What should have ended there turns into a series of accidental meetings that slowly spark curiosity, laughter, and unexpected chemistry. As they continue to run into each other through mutual friends, coffee shop encounters, and work-related events, Arjun and Maya begin to open up. Arjun brings spontaneity and laughter into Maya’s life, while Maya grounds Arjun and challenges him to take things seriously. But just when things seem to be falling into place, Maya receives a life-changing job opportunity overseas, forcing the couple to confront the reality of long-distance love, career choices, and personal growth. What makes Loveyapa stand out is its realistic take on love in the digital age—where swiping right is easy, but true connection is rare. The film smartly balances comedy with emotion, supported by lovable side characters, modern-day dating quirks, and a feel-good soundtrack. With heartwarming performances and relatable storytelling, Loveyapa is more than a Valentine’s season flick—it’s a reminder that real love often comes from the most unexpected places.

Honestly, Loveyapa turned out to be way more watchable than I expected. After seeing Nadaniyan—another film with star kids that didn’t land well—I walked in with zero expectations. But this one? It actually had some charm to it. The film dropped right around Valentine’s week, which was honestly perfect timing. It’s light, romantic, and doesn’t take itself too seriously. I'm genuinely surprised it didn’t get the reception it deserved. At its core, Loveyapa is very much a Gen Z movie—set in the world of social media, influencers, and digital drama. One of the most interesting plot twists is how the couple is forced by their parents to swap phones to “prove” their love. It’s quirky, slightly absurd, but kind of entertaining in its own way. You’ll find a bit of everything here: some romance, a sprinkle of comedy, emotional moments, and a mild life message. That said, the second half does start to feel a bit stretched and repetitive. But overall, it’s decent time-pass material, especially if you’re not expecting anything groundbreaking. Performance-wise, Khushi Kapoor still has a long road ahead. She’s got screen presence, but there’s a lot of work to be done before she really finds her rhythm. Zunaid Khan isn’t bad, but casting him as the romantic lead felt like a bit of a stretch. He’s okay, just not very compelling in this role. The oddest choice? Kiku Sharda. I mean, casting him alongside young, fresh faces felt totally off. He looked way too old for the part, and his inclusion felt more like a gimmick than a natural fit. On the plus side, Ashutosh Rana shows up and, as always, brings class to even the smallest roles. Overall, Loveyapa isn’t a film you’ll rave about, but it’s a breezy, easy OTT watch—good for a lazy weekend. Rating: 3/5
